Manufacturers of Construction Products in the first seven months of 2018 exported materials worth 14,870 million euros, 4% more than in the same period of 2017 and 13.9% more than in 2016, with a trade balance of 3,724 million euros. These figures represent 8.8% of the Spanish economy’s total exports. This is reflected in the latest report on the economic situation by the Spanish Confederation of Manufacturers of Construction Products (CEPCO). On the other hand, concrete production grew by 15.9% in 2017 compared to the previous year.
The CEPCO report also states that the purchase and sale of new housing reached 54,000 units in the first seven months of the year, 12% more than in the same period of the previous year. And that homes started in the first five months of the year exceed 40,000, about 8,000 more than in the same period last year.
The sector’s good health can be seen at CONSTRUTEC 2018, the International Exhibition of Construction Materials, Techniques and Solutions, in which sustainability, technology and innovation will be presented as the sector’s major pillars.
